MONETARY DONATIONS: COSTS OF SOME PROJECTS
TYPE OF PROJECT DESCRIPTION
* Targeted feeding To maintain an already existing
soup kitchen & feeding project:
  • Bread
  • Soup powder
  • E-Pap
  • Nutritional porridge
Cost = ZAR 3,600 per month

To start a soup kitchen & feeding
project:
  • Pots
  • Gas stove
  • Gas cylinder
  • Bowls
  • Plates
  • Spoons
  • Kitchen table
  • Fridge(if possible)
Cost = ZAR 5,000

Child Feeding - Recommend daily meal
per age group:
  • 6 months to about 5 years old
    daily portion of 2 spoons of e'Pap porridge
    (aprox 25 grams. which is equivalent to
    750 grams a month)

    @ZAR12.37 per child per month
  • Older kids and adults
    daily portion of 4 table spoons
    (50 grams a day which
    is equivalent to 1.5kg per month)

    @ZAR24.75 per child per month
NB: If the children are highly malnourished -
we would recommend at least 2 meal portions
a day for about 3 weeks to help catch up the
backlog and thereafter a single meal portion with as
balanced or varied diet as is affordable.

* Income generating projects:
To start a sewing project:
  • Sewing machine
  • Over- lock sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • Srotchets hooks
  • Needles
  • Material
  • Wool
Cost = ZAR 3,500


To start a vegetable garden project:
  • Spades
  • Forks
  • Fertiliser
  • Seeds
Cost = ZAR 500

* Food security systems Hippo drip irrigtiion system
(A drip irrigation system which assists
with garden projects)

Cost = ZAR 1,695 plus VAT & Delivery.

* Access to water for
household use
Assistance to communities who still
have to collect their water from
some type of water source by
providing them with a Hippo Water Roller.
(A barrel with handles which can be
pulled along to collect water - it is
durable and much easier to use than the
original buckets)

Cost = ZAR 630 each plus VAT & Delivery.
