ASSISTING OPERATION HUNGER:
The objectives and areas of expertise of Operation Hunger are detailed below. Some regional offices of Operation Hunger also need assistance with office administration and the collection and delivery of goods in kind to communities. If you feel you can contribute in any way, please contact the regional coordinator for the area in which you live and we thank you sincerely for showing an interest in the activities of our organisation.
OBJECTIVES OF OPERATION HUNGER:
Improve the nutritional well-being of the poor. Promote the dissemination of knowledge about poverty and malnutrition in South Africa. Improve existing facilities to reduce malnutrition in South Africa. Promote the capacity of communities to reduce malnutrition in South Africa and to render financial assistance to develop such programmes. Cooperate with communities, organisations and authorities to combat malnutrition generally.
AREA OF EXPERTISE:
Skills training in all aspects of implementing income generating projects, which includes basic bookkeeping, writing constitutions, business plans, donor proposals and market assessments. Community needs assessments using participatory techniques. Running projects such as soup kitchens and nutrition projects. Gardening projects. Water projects (installation and maintenance of handpumps) Rainwater harvesting (building water tanks). Sanitation projects (building of toilets). TB DOTS projects HIV/AIDS information and education projects.
